The Board of Trustees  of the American Society for Aesthetics has authorized up to $6,000 to support aesthetics speakers at three diversity institutes in the summer of 2018: The Summer Program for Women in Philosophy at University of California, San Diego; the Rutgers Summer Institute for Diversity in Philosophy; and the Summer Immersion Program in Philosophy at Brown University.

This will be the fourth year ASA has sponsored an aesthetics speaker at UCSD and Rutgers and the third year for sponsorship at Brown. ASA participation promotes ASA's interest in diversity in the profession, as well as introducing promising undergraduate students to aesthetics.

The Call for Applications to be the speaker will be posted in December in the ASA Newsletter, this web site, and the ASA pages on Facebook. Interested persons will be able to submit one application to be considered for one, two, or all three of the institutes.  The application will consist of a current CV and a brief statement (no more than 750 words) of the proposed presentation. Sponsored ASA speakers at previous summer institutes are eligible, although priority will be given to well-qualified applicants who have not previously presented on ASA's behalf.

The deadline for submitting an application will be February 26, 2018.  Applicants will be reviewed by an ad hoc committee appointed by the ASA President, with the final selections made by the respective Institute directors. ASA funds will pay for the speakers' travel, lodging, and honoraria for the Institutes.
