The Richard Wollheim Lecture, initiated in 2009, is jointly sponsored with the British Society of Aesthetics. The ASA nominates a lecturer to speak at the BSA annual meeting in even-numbered years and the BSA nominates a lecturer to speak at the ASA annual meeting in odd-numbered years. The Arthur C. Danto Memorial Lecture, established in 2014 in memory of Arthur Danto (1924-2013), is given each year at the Society’s annual meeting, typically by a practicing artist or by a scholar who is not in philosophy or related areas.
The ASA Presidential Lecture is given at the annual meeting in even-numbered years near the end of the term of each ASA President. Normally, it is published later in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism. Keynote Addresses-Divisional Meetings: The ASA supports keynote lectures at each of the three divisional meetings with up to $2000 from ASA to defray costs. Selections are made by the respective organizing committees for the divisional meetings. |
